About Us
Healing Broken Hearts began in September of 2026 as a result of the loss experienced by the creators of this organization. Their God-inspired journey led them to this unique opportunity in which they could serve the Lord with gladness as they continued their grief work to heal and find health in every aspect of their being.
Mission Statement
To provide a supportive environment that promotes holistic health and healing for the wounds of grief-stricken hearts.
Who We Are
Anika Avery-Grant, DCN, RDN, LD, CSR
Dr. Avery-Grant is a dietitian with a doctorate in clinical nutrition. She has practiced primarily in the renal (dialysis) setting for the past 30 years. Dr. Avery-Grant is well acquainted with grief and grief care. She worked at a Hospice House for a year and was member of a bereavement team during her time working as a renal dietitian. A miscarriage, the loss of her mother, her pet cat, her husband and her livelihood has helped her to understand more intimately the many aspects and layers of grief.
Siena Peters, BSN RN
Siena Peters is a nurse who has specialized in pediatrics and neonatal care for the past 32 years. Her work has frequently caused her to face the somber reality of death in infancy. The passing of her mom and then the excruciating journey of caring for her husband before he passed from pancreatic cancer has given her an extraordinary perspective of grief and loss.
